Coffee Workers Singing - Yirga Cheffe, Ethiopia

Call and response singing! No instruments are required and this is best done when working together in a team on a big job. During the high harvest season in Yirga Cheffe this is a big part of African working life. There is palpable joy in the singing and the groups seem to be well rehearsed from working so many seasons together. The more coffee coming through the better! The singing not only displays the joy of the harvest, but it also highlights the solidarity of the co-operative and the pride Ethiopians have towards their famous coffees.
