The Riverina has been growing oranges, lemons, mandarins and grapefruit since 1917 and is one of Australia's largest citrus production areas with over 3,000,000 trees in total (Approximately 8,500 hectares). The Riverina citrus growing areas is mainly around the towns of Leeton, Griffith, Narrandera and Hillston with over 400 producers and 45 packers. Approximately 20% of the Riverina's citrus is exported. The Riverina is home to some of the largest fresh orange juice companies. In October each year Griffith is host to the amazing Citrus Sculptures.
