Nigeria is targeting 10 billion dollars of investment in farming to boost domestic food production by 2015. This is a bid by Africa's most-populous nation to reduce a reliance on imports. The West African country is the second largest importer of rice in the world, buying at least two million metric tons a year from China and Thailand. Now, to help boost rice farming, the Chinese government has provided high quality rice seeds to the government in Kebbi state to empower local rice farmers.
