Chinese firm acquires Australia’s largest dairy company
The Australian government has approved the sale of Van Diemen’s Land Company, Australia’s largest dairy operation, to Chinese businessman Lu Xianfeng. The sale, which is expected to be finalized later this year, is worth about 200 million US dollars. In return, Lu will get an operation with more than 19,000 milking cows over 25 dairy farms. But one politician has raised concerns that the sale to a foreign investor could impact food security in Australia.
