Chinese Farmer Adopts Bear Cub Thinking It Was Dog

A Chinese villager has revealed his shock after the stray puppy he adopted off the streets turned out to be an endangered species of bear. Wildlife authorities in Dehong Dai and Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture confirmed the animal was an Asian black bear - a first-class state-protected species in China. The unnamed farmer told the officials that he came across the little black ball of fur several weeks ago in south-west China's Yunnan Province.
