To follow are some basic notes on what was involved in getting my Visa to enter China. Application Process You front up to the Chinese Visa Application Service Centre in your city. Visas are administered by the Chinese Consulate General. The process is simple. You front up at the office with your Passport and your Visa Application Form filled in – along with an additional passport photo - which they still to your application form. The info requested on the application includes:- * current occupation * education * employer or school info * major purpose for your visit * intended number of entries * date of first entry * number of days intending to stay * where you’ll be staying * who will pay for your travel * inviter in China * criminal record * health issues You have to hand over your passport (surrendering your passport can feel a but scary) but once submitted it only takes approx 4 days before you can return to collect ir, and your chinese visa will be inserted. There is an option to pay for an express visa for $20 and a turn around time of 2 to 3 days. Main Types of Visa There are many visa types, but the main ones are:- Tourist (L) need flight and accommodation details Business (F/M) Private visa (S) Family (Q) My sons come in on the S1 Visa: Private, which means they’re required to apply for residential permit within 30 days from the date of entry. Children’s visa cost $98.50 each I came in on an S2 Visa: Private. It’s valid for 6 months and allows for a double entry. My visa cost $128.50 So that’s it for my VISA experience thus far. I’m planning to do business over here, so I will need to change my Visa – so I will update you on that process when the time comes.
