China to get ‘vertical forest’ Mountain Hotel in Guizhou

The project is inside a masterplan of 400 acres, in the Wanfeng Valley, in Guizhou, China, recently named by the New York Times as one of the best destinations in 2016. The 250-room property is the latest brainchild of Stefano Boeri Architetti (SBA), the design studio responsible for ground-breaking forest skyscrapers in Milan, Italy and Lausanne, Switzerland. The mountain project has 31.200 m2, and 250 rooms designed for the Hong Kong based Cachet Hotel Group. The interior design will be a collaboration with the local artist Simon Ma. The new hotel includes services such as gym, lounge, vip area, bar, restaurant and conference room. The concept comes from the unique natural scenery of the 10 thousands peaks valley, its original topography and ecosystem. The design aims to restore the landscape, by reconstructing a former existing hill that was flattened years ago, in this way emulating the past and present hills. Symbiosis is the goal. Sustainability not only depends on energy conservation, but on a wider biodiversity. The symbiosis between man, architecture and nature is the real sustainability. Following the first prototype in Milan, then in Lausanne, the Vertical Forest is continuously consolidated as a model for a sustainable urbanization.
