Organic food market in Hong Kong is gaining more and more attention, but the market still needs to be nurtured. Limited supply, high production and distribution cost, inefficient marketing lead to higher organic food product price. According to statistics from Organic Monitor, although local organic food sector is still very small, it has potential for further development. Organic farmers have shared their experiences in organic agriculture. Experts urge the Hong Kong government to do more in organic agricultural technique research in order to bring down the production price. Also, the government should put more efforts into promoting organic agriculture and the lifestyles behind it. Oswald Chan reports.
