China calls for ceasefire in eastern Ukraine

Addressing the UN Security Council on Monday, China’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Liu Jieyi, said that the worsening situation in Ukraine has resulted in heavy civilian casualties. He asked all the parties involved to practically implement the Minsk Agreement inked last September and called for a probe into the reasons behind the recent surge in violence.
