Chemical discovered to fight soil pollution

Scientists in south China's Guangdong Province have discovered a chemical derived from a type of clay mineral that can help control soil-based heavy metal pollution and prevent contaminants from affecting crops. The discovery follows a recent report indicating that nearly 20 percent of China's farmland is polluted.
