Okay, so I love Bob Ross and it's stupid to question him but isn't the general rule for oil painting fat over lean? Like, your initial layers are supposed to be super thin but as you progress they get thicker? Why is he saying that you start thick and get thinner?

Amazing! Not what he does, like he said everyone has it in them to paint. It's just that! His positive vibe that he exudes while teaching gives motivation and self confidence to the viewer.
