Black bears spotted in NE China farm

Unexpected visitors for farmers in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province as local people have spotted several black bears swimming across a border river to enter China from Russia. That has scared Liang Xianzhong, a local chicken breeder. SOUNDBITE (CHINESE) LIANG XIANZHONG, Chicken breeder: "My chickens were crying in fear at midnight on Sept 5. So I got up and went out to check out what happened. Then I saw a black bear carried one of my chickens and roamed around about 10 meters away from my house. I was so scared and went back home. I heard it came back again hours later." Liang has reported the incident to the local forestry department which has later found paw prints of bears on the farmland. Officials are still tracing the bears to ensure locals' safety.
