Baringo rice farming

Maize farmers in Baringo County have embraced rice farming thanks to a new variety of rice introduced by the National Irrigation Board at the Perkerra Irrigation Scheme known as NERICA. Though rice farming is usually carried out in flooded areas, the new variety does very well in minimum water and can be planted just next to maize.
