The Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Bagudu said if agriculture is properly funded, Nigeria will be sufficient in rice production and be able to compete with other countries. He said this during a press briefing organised by the Nigeria Governors' Forum in Abuja on Thursday. Bagudu said billions of US Dollars is needed to fund rice production in Nigeria. He also said Kebbi State is competitive in rice and they've been trying to draw. However, under investment in the local capacity has been responsible in hampering rice production. Bagudu also said the return gotten from rice production is the function of investment just as in oil industry and that money can be made from agricultural commodity exports as made from oil if it is properly funded. He said there is no State in Nigeria that does not have the capacity to produce export commodities.
