Asian STEAMED MACKEREL Recipe ~The Second Salmon
Mackerel is a forgotten tasty fish. This steamed Asian recipe was a delicious surprise packed full of flavor. In lieu of farmed raised salmon of antibiotics, mackerel is a great backup. Will definitely be making this on a regular basis. Healthy and easy! Enjoy. Asian Steamed Mackerel Recipe ~The Second Salmon by Tess's Kitchen INGREDIENTS: Mackerel 1 sliced lime 2 tbsp julienne ginger 4 chopped scallions 2-3 tbsp olive oil 1 tbsp soy sauce Sauce: 3 tbsp olive oil 3 tbsp soy sauce 1 tsp sesame oil zest of lime juice of lime zest 1/2 tsp ginger zest 1/2 clove garlic zest 1 scallion zest 1 chili pepper Mix the olive oil, soy sauce, chopped scallions and ginger together. Place mixture between sliced mackerel. Put 2-3 cups water in wok and place steamer on top. I lined my bamboo steamer with parchment paper. Bring to a boil. Place sliced limes on bottom and then your seasoned mackerel on top. Cover and steam for 10 minutes - does not take long. Be careful in removing the lid as this is steam and will burn. Mix all the sauce ingredients together and serve on the side as a dipping sauce. I served with steamed rice. Steamed broccoli would also make a great side dish.
