Males and females will pair off and being with the male circling around a female, and the female will circle back at him. This could go on for some hours, sometimes for days. If they get along, the female will allow the male to swim side by side with her, and they will come close in proximity. They will seem to be mirroring each other when swimming and looking like they are moving in circles. At some point in the courtship, the female will release the eggs, and the male will fertilize them, scoop them up and carry them in his mouth till birth.
