Thousands of children in Indonesia are working in hazardous conditions on tobacco farms, according to a report by Human Rights Watch released Wednesday. The report claims children are being exposed to nicotine, toxic chemicals and extreme heat while farming tobacco putting them at risk of cancer, respiratory problems and nicotine poisoning. Why aren’t tobacco companies doing more to ensure that children are not doing hazardous work on farms in their supply chains?
