Aquaponics, Root Pouches & Volunteer Plants with a Cameo from a Blue Bummed Bee
Hey folks. Here's a bit of a wander around the patch for those that may be interested. Have included a sneak peek at the chop & flip aquaponic system as well as a bit of a quick look at the main aquaponic system. Also thought I'd update you on how the ginger is going in the aquaponics & some of the plants we have growing in the root pouches, like the sweet potato & banana plants. Included a bit of a look at the volunteer pumpkin & luffa plants and a Blue Banded bee I found trying to collect pollen from a luffa flower. Thought it might interest those that are into Aussie native bees. Root Pouches & Uniseals can be purchased from our small blog store. Hopped off a forklift... I bet there's a story behind that one! Hope all is well, I know those back injuries never really seem to heal. Thanks for the video.
Cheers! -
Can't w8 till I'm an old man, then I can 'do my back' too.

Amazing! I envy your green thumb! Wish I had warmer temps, I would love to attempt a garden like that. Michigan is just too cold. Keep up the great work. I hope your back gets feeling better soon.
Edit: Get horticulture molasses for those mites. It will help with pretty much any type of insect issue. Avoid spraying the flowers so as not to injure the bees. You mix it with water and spray it on the plants. You can also use a bit of cooking oil in the mix to help make it stick to slick leaves. It's all natural, not horribly expensive, benefits the plants by increasing the microbes in the soil, is not sticky like kitchen molasses and naturally kills insects that munch on your plants. Basically what it does is increase the sugar intake in the insects which is a fine balancing act for them. In a nutshell, it gives them gas. lol It increases the gasses in their bodies which kills them. It can also be sprayed on the lawn if you ever get fire ants. :-) -
I'm always happy to see what new stuff you're up to and growing =)! Hope you feel better soon!

your ginger and turmeric is so many and I'm a good watcher of your videos rob

Sure lots going on there, The jades look plenty big enough for the pot. How many liters are the IBC totes and if you had a choice would you use square or round fish tanks.

Love watching your little wanders.

Every time I watch your videos that has any clips of the Aquaponics... I get anxious to get something going on my farm! Thanks for all your hard work sharing your farm. I totally understand how much time and effort goes into it. Sorry to hear about your back Mate. Rest well!

Garden looks as good as ever Rob.
For mite control just wash them off with a hose and keep it moist so that the eggs can't hatch. if not possible for fear of blight you can move the plants for direct sun, that will help. -
I hope you feel better, I have a similar problem, so I truly understand. I hate when it happens because it seems to put me behind in the things I want to do, that and the pain. And the medication! Well, enjoy the greenery, that always helps me with my back pain, surveying the fruits of my labor! So take it easy for a few and enjoy your wonderful garden!

I can relate to those back problems, Rob! Take care of it, and don't over do! Cheers!
