Aquaponic Tea, Banana, and Lemon
Today I spent a little time in the dome greenhouse planting some out-of-the-ordinary plants. As we (slowly) work on the larger greenhouse, the goal is to utilize the dome for some more of exotic varieties of plants. http://www.patreon.com/BigelowBrook Our Top supporters: http://www.TrueAquaponics.com http://www.GreenLifePlanet.net http://www.GlassBottleOutlet.com How To Find Us: http://www.BigelowBrook.com http://www.Facebook.com/BigelowBrook http://plus.google.com/+BigelowBrook

If I could only plant one lemon, it'd be a Meyer.
-
have you ever gotten any bananas. I thought about putting a banana tree in my system.
-
the taller banana could be a dwarf I have dwarf Brazilian and its 10 feet tall. dwarf doesn't always mean under 3 or 4 feet, but it is smaller than the original that get 20 plus feet tall so it is a dwarf compaired to the original variety

your aquaponic system really looks great. well done

Some fun plants, I'd love to get a tea tree/bush growing here. Tried a few different ways to sprout the seeds but so far no luck. Looking good in the greenhouse!

I am very pleased to see my gift, pink lemon, doing very well in your waterbed. Despite the fact that citrus plants love to be dry between watering - it is doing very well, I could see it by the color of the leaves, size of the branches and space between the leaves. You are setting an example not only in America, but in Russia too, I will talk about your experience in Russian citrus forums, where there is a backbone rule stating "Never over water your citrus!". You are breaking all the rules right there in this experiment. I really appreciate your input in growing citruses, that is going to be new page in "How to grow citruses" book.
Keep it up. Meyer is my favorite citrus by the way, I can eat it without sugar with a strait face )))
Do not let them fruit until plants will make the desired structure of the branches, if you let them set 5-8 fruits this year , they will not grow much at all this year. All juice will be given towards the fruits. Once you have desired size of the lemon tree - let them fruit as much as they can. Just make sure they have 10-15 adults leaves per one fruit. This will hold the growing progress. -
I would never thought transplanting plant with dirt into aquaponics beds with dirt like that. Always seen vids washing soil off. Hey it works.

Hope your citrus tree will do well and looking forward to see your results because citrus don't like wet roots and the soil needs to dry completely before watering but I wanted to try growing a citrus tree in aquaponics myself

good to see from you Rob, have you ever looked at the par lighting from marigoldlighting.com for supplementing light in the winter?
