An Inside Look at the Exotic Animal Trade: Profiles by VICE
Wildlife trafficking is estimated to be a $19 billion per year global business, surpassed only by black-market sales and trafficking of drugs, humans, and firearms. In the United States, regulation of private ownership of exotic animals is determined by each state, allowing for loopholes and oversight. Animals are bought and traded through auctions, backyard breeders, illicit online sales and more. The industry is growing right in our backyards. VICE travels to Ohio to rescue a cougar, then to Texas for an exotic livestock auction and undercover visit to a gaming ranch where the animals are sold and hunted for up to $15,000 a piece. The world will be a better place when we finally go extinct.
-
i feel like shit for wanting a tiger
-
So canned hunting is really behind a lot of this - animals are bred in captivity and then sold to be hunted - and it doesn't only happen in Africa.

I dont like this exotic animal trade stuff, but the guy at 9:30 talking about hunting them is 100% right. That also the only reason a lot of animal species in south africa arent extinct yet, because they are making money off of hunting businesses of those animals, which is also like the only way those places can make any money to.

this is why I constantly tell people to please buy captive bred reptiles from reputable breeders and not from fucking Petco. petco and petsmart get their animals from reptile "mills" that import hundreds of animal and never give them proper care.... also, primates, big cats, bears and all that shit arent fucking pets, keep them out of your private residence jackasses...

OKAY WHAT KIND OF CAT IS AT 2:40??????? PLEASE HELP
-
All exotic mammals and field collected reptiles should never be kept as pets I myself do keep some exotic reptiles that are always captive bred that means that they are never taken out of the wild and are used to humans if you are going to keep any reptile be positive you can give him or her as natural and as large of a habitat you can get and be positive that you can give it all the care that it needs. I do not think that reptiles are bad to own and as long as they are captive bred they make great pets.

This is fucking disgusting.
-
in the next 50 - 60 years all the exotic animal will be only Stuffed in museum, really sad fact
-
if people destroy the beautiful nature, they not deserve to get beautiful nature.
-
Hold hold up, what? There are more big cats in captivity than there in the wild?! That is crazy.
