**HELP ME REACH 500 SUBSCRIBERS!!** BE SURE TO HIT THAT LIKE BUTTON, SHARE AND SUBSCRIBE BUTTON! ;) Lolly = candy, confectionary. Australian slang, get used to it. Bikkie = biscuit (what you might call a cookie if you wanted to be wrong) Crapton of individual candy bars, whatever. Read the label if you wanna know what they're like. Sweet Chilli and Sour Cream Chips - Red Rock is one of the best quality brands of chips with decent flavours. Sweet Chili and Sour Cream is a modern Australian staple. Twisties - Been around forever, kinda like Cheetos but with the weirdest shape. Burger Rings - I'm sure you have something like this in the States but they don't seem to sell these anywhere else. Macamdamias - A famous Australian nut which now apparently has plantations in Hawaii which is where you might be familiar with it from. Fantales - These lollies are a soft of soft caramel inside a thin chocolate coating, you're meant to suck on them. The wrapper is famous for Hollywood trivia that's generally pretty out of date. Jaffas - These lollies are a super hard so suck them - bright orange candy shell with a choc-orange centre. Notorious back in the day for being thrown in the cinema - can really brain someone so be careful. Minties - Hard chewy mints, don't let them get stuck on your teeth. Milo - Crunchy energy drink powder with malt and chocolate, kinda like Ovaltine I guess. Sometimes shaken on top of icecream. Vegemite - World famous yeast extract, share with friends and enemies. Spread thin on toast if you actually want to eat it. Bundaberg Ginger Beer - A famous product of my home town/village, second only to Bundaberg Rum, drink cold and invert once before opening. Mountain Dew - Apparently every can here is now "energised", does it taste the same to you? Also, note the use of the metric system. Welcome to the international community. Sweet Chilli - A bottle of your own sweet chilli sauce. Have it as a dip on it's own or on top of chicken or whatever. You must at least once try some wedges or hot dipping foods with it ala: http://www.travelyourself.ca/fridayfoodphotos/fridayfoodphotos-australian-potato-wedges-with-sour-cream-and-sweet-chilli-sauce/ Iced Vo-Vos - Quintessential Australian tea bikkie, sweet pink stuff with some raspberry jam in the middle and some coconut on top. Have with tea or coffee. Tim Tams - Caramel/Normal/Double Coat. The most famous Australian bikkie in the world. Chocolate with a chocolate cream centre. Keep them in the fridge so they don't get melty. Warning: very moreish and easy to eat a lot! The Tim Tam Slam is the best most amazing sensation in the world ala: http://www.fussfreecooking.com/recipe-categories/sugary-treats/tim-tam-slam-hot-raspberry-tim-tam-milkshake-cold/ I really hope yall enjoy! Rookie mistake: It's actually pronounced fan-tails.
-
The word lolly seems to be attracting a few comments. Australia is not the only country to use the word lolly or lollies. The word lolly was first used in Briton "lollypop" and the word lollypop was then used as it still is around the world. Australia simply uses the word to describe a type of thing(sweets, candy) rather than an individual item or product. As far as slang goes the word lolly was used when "old m8 lost his lolly" thus describing someone losing their temper but it is an old saying and rarely if ever used today.
