A DIY Wind Power Generator That You Can Build!
Crushing the air into a smaller channel will increase the speed With an increase in velocity, power increases as the cube of the difference; Double means 8 times as much energy! In this video, you will see a design to increase wind speed by reducing the channel and the power increases with the cube of the speed increase For ideas on getting the motor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgxMd84Y9Tc For subtitles, copy video URL and go to http://downsub.com/ Paste the location Select language It's on your computer Open location Open MS Word and have it open the .srt file You will see each spoken word at the precise location in the vidoe Thanks! keywords: electric, power, wind, generator, diy, electricity, VAWT, power generation,

my only change is an s-shape on the deflectors as mathematically it shows more RPM for the turbine

thank you i love the idea and mathematically it works great i started a build on it a few weeks ago cant wait to get it up

Where's the video of yours?
-
no demo?

I don't understand the air flow process. It seems to me that there is no means for air to be quickly expelled, so flow in will be significantly restricted as volume of wind increases. Can an engineer provide some insight to answer this comment of mine?

You Are So Cool.I Enjoy Your Videos very much. Thank You

Thank you so much for posting this.

My works too. I used Inplix handbooks and build it without any problems.

What can did buy the vertical turbine? The only thing that I can find is a squirrel cage turbine

In your power calculation you are forgetting a few things:
1. When halving your area, the power is also halved; so although double the wind speed will cube the power, the decreased area will half it again. Doubling the wind speed will thus lead to a power increase of 2*2*2/2=4, when taking the decreased area into account.
2. When you increase the wind speed, the pressure of the wind is decreased proportional to the square of the wind speed (= Bernoulli's principle). Analogue to a mechanical system you can compare the pressure with torque and the wind speed with a certain rpm. So when doubling the wind speed instead of the power increasing by 4 (taking the decrease of area into account) it increases by 0 (when taking the decrease of area and pressure into account). What you did is create an aerodynamic gearbox where you traded in torque for speed.
3. Much like a mechanical gearbox, your system has friction losses; these are between the stationary walls of the duct and the wind. So, much like a mechanical gearbox, the available power at the inlet will be a little higher then the available power at the outlet of your duct.
4. Because of the frictional losses and your duct changing the direction of the wind a pressure bubble is created in the duct and at its inlet. This will push part of the wind around your duct. Although your duct blocks the airflow from pushing on the "wrong" direction of the turbine, it itself has some inefficiencies by creating a pressure bubble. I cannot predict if this pressure bubble will result in a more or less efficient system, compared to not having any ducts.
So, to conclude: overall, you might still have a more efficient system compared to not having any ducts, but the ducts certainly won't increase the power of the air by a factor of about 300. (Which is also logical, the wind energy at the inlet of your duct cannot be lower then the energy at your outlet, if you don't apply any energy to the system.) -
Nice wind power project. Good work and keep it going.

That was amazingly informative! Very inventive and sounds as if it might be within our budget to realize. Thank you VERY much for posting this video! :)

AWESOME! Thank you for a great idea! Let's hope this spark of yours will get people to build their own wind powered generators!

Bravo! Truly the best way to occupy my time when I get retired:-)

But have you taken into consideration that a small opening will necessarily be closer to the axis of rotation than a larger one. Therefore a larger opening - which will be further from the axis of rotation - would allow larger blades. Larger blades would generate more torque due to the greater rotational leverage exerted on the turbine shaft. So, does this not make the equation more complex than you describe?

very good layout, but it's not continues generation. there is a way to generate power on a constant path. each house should generate there own power with an energy Cube. . to make the cube you have to go back to the birth of electricity generation. a long lost way . the Nazis did it and it worked the usa. stole it in 1946 and hid it away for ever . that would mean free power and how would the goverment make money. maybe it's time for me to bring it back

Absolute genius !!!!!!

A screen across each septum would seem massively beneficial, not just to save animals from a horrible fate - but also preventing natural and man-made detritus from harming the blades.

good of you to have given engineering such a distinct voice

I can not make out the angles you provided. Any possibility you could tell us what those angle are, you have on the picture. I love project like this. I was an electrical engineer on the Space Shuttle program and have retired to 6.5 acres of land and would like to not only use solar power but this design to move water up out of a fish tank for an aquaponics project. I think the angles you have there are: 75 deg. 85.2 deg 64.7 deg 162 deg, but they have to add up to 360 deg. so I know I over by 6.9 deg. Any help would be appreciated. I will also try to figure out your numbers using google sketch-up. Thanks again for posting.
