2016 Southeast Iowa Farm Show at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center Video produced by Werner Elmker Audio-Visual Studio • elmker.com The Fairfield Arts & Convention Center presents the 2nd Annual Southeast Iowa Farm Show, Saturday, March 5, 2016, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Vendors from across Southeast Iowa will exhibit the latest in equipment, seed, technology and more to assist you with your farming operation. Admission to the show is FREE! Speakers - presenting in the Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts, and sponsored by Farm Credit Services: 9:00 a.m. Tom Miller, Iowa State University Extension Swine Field Specialist Tom Miller works with Iowa State University Extension as a Swine Field Specialist providing coverage for sixteen counties in Southeast Iowa. Tom is housed in the Extension office in Washington County and also farms near Winfield Iowa. After graduating from Iowa State University with a degree in Animal Science, Tom worked for Farm Credit for several years before returning home to farm. For the past sixteen years he has worked with Iowa State Extension while continuing to farm. Tom works with pork producers in helping them protect the environment while utilizing the nutrients contained in manure to eliminate the need for purchased inputs of fertilizer. Recently he has provided support to producers insuring they implement new FDA antibiotic guidelines including Guidance for Industry #209 and #213 which will be implemented on December 31st of 2016. 10:00 a.m. Steven Bohr, Farm Financial Strategies Steve began his 23 year financial services career immediately upon graduation from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1992. He achieved a B. A. degree, Magna Cum Laude, with a double major of Economics and Business Administration. As a native Iowan, born and raised on his families' farm in nearby Wellman, Iowa his heritage was deeply engaged in agriculture. Steve founded Farm Financial Strategies (FFS), a program to offer strategies to 'preserve the family farm'.Steve has served as President of Cedar Rapids Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He also served on the board of directors for the Iowa FFA Foundation and Coe College's Board of Visitors.Steve will share strategies to prepare your estate for future uncertainty and discuss how recent economic issues affect your farm succession strategy. 11:00 a.m. Mike Pearson, Market to Market Get ready to laugh and learn with Mike Pearson as he takes you on an entertaining journey - a look ahead at the outlook for the farm markets—and global trends impacting these markets. Farmer, banker, and Market To Market host Mike Pearson keeps viewers informed as host of the "Weekly Journal of Rural America." Mike Pearson was raised in south central Iowa, attended Simpson College, where he majored in History, and continued to run the family farm south of Winterset, IA. After graduation he moved to Grinnell, Iowa, where he lives with his wife, Heidi. He is a part-time farmer and has experience as a banker with emphasis on Agriculture and Residential lending.
