It's ok to get your crawfish pots ready. Farmers say as of now everything points to a good season. Mild weather and low fuel prices are two reasons why they're optimistic. Louisiana's dry summer helped the crawfish grow large. Farmer James Cantrelle said as of now he's getting close to $5 a pound. "The prices are a little pricey right now. But the prices are going to drop. But a lot of people want them right now, so that's good for me, because we sell all we can catch," said Cantrelle. Another reason American farmers are happy so far is because there is less competition from other countries. The U.S. government fined Chinese companies $19 million this fall for failing to pay taxes and selling their crawfish at unfair prices.
