The younger fruit bodies bleed a red gooey substance. It gets many spooky nicknames like red-juice tooth, devils tooth and even strawberries and cream. It’s not exactly sure why they keep getting the nicknames involving teeth but it’s easy to see why it looks like it’s bleeding or even sweating blood. They are not poisonous but apparently someone tried eating this apocalyptic mushroom at one point and said it’s inedible due to its bitter taste! These do however have some use to them. They apparently have antibiotic qualities. Would you be willing to give it a try anyways? 4. Venus Flytrap These carnivorous plants prey upon unsuspecting insects who dare try to collect its pollen. The venus flytrap is ironically named after the Roman god of love, venus, despite its unique ability to feast upon insects. When an insect crawls along the hairs near the part that resembles a flower, it triggers a quick snapping reflex and closes its trap. They eat mostly insects that crawl on it like ants, spiders and beetles and only less than 5 percent of its prey is in fact some type of flying insect. If something falls in its mouth that isn’t food, like a rock or seed, it’ll reopen its mouth and regurgitate the object. It’s still a mystery to scientists exactly how the trap fully closes without a nervous system or muscles, making it somewhat zombie like. 3.
